What is Compost?
Compost is the result of managed, aerobic biological decomposition of organic materials by microorganisms. It's a natural process in which the organic materials are broken down by microorganisms with the help of oxygen. Compost is a living soil amendment.
How C3 Compost is Made
C3 Compost was created with two goals in mind, manure management and decreasing dependence on synthetic fertilizers. Through the composting process, we have realized that the value and benefits of this process have far exceeded those expectations.  C3 compost has evolved from a willingness to learn about composting for biology. This willingness led to composting for fertility as a way to make better use of manure produced on our farm. Our compost is comprised of manure, carbon, water, and locally sourced wood chips. This is synchronized and monitored for moisture and temperature which provides an environment for the microbiology to break down raw ingredients to a balanced stable product that plants tell us they like. Our finished product is a value-added soil amendment that is easy to work with.  Our C3 compost is living soil. Independent testing on our compost has verified the existence of microbiology and we will continue to monitor our processes to try to improve on an already good product that plants tell us they like.  Through testing of our product, we have verified the existence of beneficial microorganisms that live within our compost. Contact us for testing information. We have found humic acid is present in our compost and we are adding that into our crop ground. We strive to reduce the amount of synthetic fertilizer needed by spreading compost on our crop land acres. Compost allows us to avoid hassle and reduce man-made variability in fields by having an accurate and even spread. Spreading also allows us to increase organic matter and carbon in our soils.  While our main goal is to reduce the use of synthetic fertilizers on our cropland, you may have other priorities such as amending your vegetable and flower gardens, lawn care or using it to plant and mulch trees. Nature is a beautiful thing when we get out of the way and watch it work. We put the power of nature to work for your plants. Your plants will then work for you. It truly is a beautiful system.

Rows of compost at 2 days old. Temperature: 150 degrees.
